Engines + Beasts
A collection of surrealist handcuts
A surreal Journey through dream worlds inhabited by strange and wonderful creatures.
“I am fascinated by the power of Layering. My work explores the many dimensions of this art form, from combining images and words to layering sound and movement. Through my creative process, I strive to capture the surreal and psychological world of folk tales, using the multi-dimensional layers as tools to explore the depths of the human psyche. My art is a reflection of my addiction to memories, my quest for harmony amid chaos, and my belief in the elegance of simplicity."

"Each piece is a unique exploration of the interplay between different elements, with each element chosen carefully to create a cohesive and impactful whole. By experimenting with disciplines, I aim to evoke a sense of wonder and intrigue in the viewer.”

Organic-mechanical creatures emerge—strange hybrids stitched from restless souls and forgotten machinery, where pulsing veins entwine with rusted gears, feathers fuse to pistons, and eyes of soft animal gaze out from brass sockets. These beings are not monsters but quiet revelations: embodiments of our fractured selves, where the organic surrenders to the mechanical, and the mechanical aches with living breath. Through analogue collage—hand-cut, imperfect, reclaimed—they whisper surreal folk tales of migration, vulnerability, and interconnection, reminding us that in the clash of flesh and engine, tenderness still finds its way through the cracks.

“zielschmerz n. the dread of finally pursuing a lifelong dream, which requires you to put your true abilities out there to be tested on the open savannah, no longer protected inside the terrarium of hopes and delusions that you started up in kindergarten and kept sealed as long as you could.”
